Total Depravity , every person is born sinful
("Let them confess before the Lord His lovingkindness." )
The Puritans believed they were all sinners not able to do anything good enough to please God. Only Gods saints were saved and able to interpret his word. Because the Puritans were convinced they were sinners, they would confess to God and praise him for his kindness.
Limited Atonement - Jesus died for the chosen only, not for everyone
(" God saves those he wishes")
The ones God chose and his chosen ones are the only ones that can interpret his word.
The saints are the only forgiven ones.
